Bonbons, Bon-bons, Sweets

One thing I'm definitely going to miss about Urmston is Saturday mornings; where Sally and I go into the town centre, get some breakfast and take a look in some of our favourite shops - which includes the excellent Traditional Sweetie Shop.

This week's confectionery of choice was a colourful selection of bon-bons!

Bird Illustrations

Owls by Jacqui Oakley

Birds by Jacqui Oakley

I love birds and so was pleased to see a range of bird illustrations by Jacqui Oakley hit the front page of Behance Network.

Using a combination of oil paints, ink and digital media in her work, Jacqui explains why the feathered creatures are so fun to illustrate; "I love working on bird illustrations. There's so much personality and texture to work with. It is funny lately that I've had multiple requests for similar 'bird song' compositions. I try to make each one distinct though."

You can see more of Jacqui's work on jacquioakley.com

I'm not going to lie; I'm massively excited about moving to Norway - but it's pretty stressful.

Terry Wogan Facts

Published 20th July 2010, 19:38 by coxy in General

Terry Wogan

Today I felt the need to share some coveted facts about the nation's much-loved Terry Wogan. Twitter was the medium of choice and #terrywoganfacts was the hash tag. Here's a round-up of all the Terry Wogan facts that we learnt today:

  • Terry Wogan thinks he can hear the curious tone of a cornet, clarinet and big trombone.
  • Terry Wogan once shook Jeremy Beadle's small hoof hand.
  • Terry Wogan sometimes dresses up as Wolverine and makes his work colleagues call him Terry Logan.
  • Terry Wogan modeled his hair style on the shape of the Stone Henge.
  • Terry Wogan's favourite cheese is Stilton.
  • Terry Wogan once let football star Peter Beardsley sit on his knee and tell him what he wants for Christmas.
  • Terry Wogan once punched a swan in the throat.
  • Terry Wogan ate a can of sweetcorn and pooed a whole corn on the cob as a bet. He won three pound six pence.
  • Terry Wogan found Teletext and thought he'd turned his TV into a mirror when he'd actually landed on the Bamboozle! quiz.
  • Terry Wogan was born in Uganda and lived there until they gained independence from Britain in 1962.
  • Terry Wogan gained an Irish accent after spending his youth talking to jockey from the horse-racing board game Totopoly.
  • Terry Wogan once challenged Anneka Rice with a sword.
  • Terry Wogan was born over 7ft tall and has progressively shrunk over the years.
  • Terry Wogan bought @DuncanBannatyne's book for self-improvement. He uses it as a booster seat to reach the dinner table.
  • Terry Wogan tried to move the BBC to Ireland but got stopped by airport security for having scissors in his hand luggage.
  • Terry Wogan once played a game of dominoes with the Queen and spat in her face when she beat him.

And a few equally exciting facts from other people. However, I can't personally uphold any legitimacy of these claims:

  • He has a doppelganger in a parallel universe who lives up north, plays rugby and eats pies. He's called Terry Wigan.
  • He's hoping to release his own range of biscuits: Wogan Wheels
  • He takes it up the arse.

That's it! No more #terrywoganfacts from me until he dies.

Won't be long now...

Spirited Away

I watched this film last night; it's been so long. I love it, though.
